In-Person Practitioner Training

a 12 month embodied Breathwork Facilitator training with Seven Directions®

Why train with us in person?

Seven Directions® Breathwork is proud to announce the launch of a new in-person facilitator training.

Held in a small group cohort over a 12-month cycle of the year, we will gather in person on six evenly spaced occasions. In between our live gatherings you will be held in a closed group on our online teaching portal where you will access all of our supplementary material, supporting training information, and keep up to date with our live online group calls. There will be 8 additional online meetings running on Saturday afternoons 2:00-4:00pm UK time in the months between our in-person weekends. This means that every month we will be checking in together, and ensures that in the spaces between our meetings you will have plenty of time to integrate all of the additional training resources that we provide, and process our weekends as a group.

Experiencing our facilitator training programme in person gives an ongoing, living opportunity to truly understand what it means to embody this work. We have found over the years that the in-person aspects of our training significantly amplify the student's understanding of how to work with real human beings rather than focussing on speculative theoretical situations. This means you learn how to solidly apply the principles of our training as you move through the material.

It will be essential to complete all of our in person weekends and online seminars to complete your certification to become a Seven Directions® Breathwork Facilitator.

Ready to learn more?

This 12-month Seven Directions® Breathwork Facilitator Training will be held in-person in Glastonbury, the heart chakra of the planet. Pilgrims have come here for millennia seeking the undeniable expansive energy that this magical place brings, and we look forward to welcoming you.

Our in-person weekends are non-residential, and the cost of all tuition for these weekends is included in your training fee. The final graduating practicum is likely to be residential (venue TBC) and you will need to budget additionally for this closing aspect.

The in-person meetings will be taught by our founder Steph Magenta, supported by one of our highly experienced Senior Mentors, Rebecca Baker who brings a background of performing arts, teaching and leadership to our work. Training in person with our founder offers a depth of experience that is highly valuable and strongly recommended.

We are intentionally keeping our group size small so that we can cultivate a deep and trusting relational space very much alive between us as we move through this powerful journey together, connecting with the seasons of the year and with the essence of the Seven Directions we work with.

For dates and details please see below.

OUR WHY

From Seven Directions® Founder Step Magenta: Over the years I have learnt that one of the most difficult things that we can do as human beings is allow ourselves to truly meet another human being in their essence, making space to include their strength and their vulnerability in our witnessing. Whilst I am immensely proud of our online hybrid programmes, I've also held a burning desire to do more in-person work, cultivating a different kind of intimacy and bringing in some of the ways I walk as an elder and a medicine woman in this particular season of my life.

When I first experienced breathwork, and on almost every occasion since, I have learned as much from the people breathing beside me as I did from the teaching itself.  We find resonance in other humans, our mirror neurons fire and we see ourselves reflected in our multi-dimensional aspects, some of which can be uncomfortable or challenging to look at, and some which bring a great sense of lightness, joy and mutual recognition, alongside a realisation that we are not perhaps as alone as we sometimes think we are in this world.

My great desire at this moment is to bring some of that wisdom, my significant experience in coaching, and a great deal of my breathwork and overall life experience into a learning environment where we can truly be present to one another in the most profound ways possible. I have walked through many initiatory fires, which have taught me how to hold a compassionate yet strong and boundaried space that people can lean into to truly find their personal sense of purpose.

My intention for this in-person training is to bring depth, full embodiment, creativity, cohesion, connection, and a whole lot of intimacy and fun into the experience.

You will leave a different person than the one who stepped through the opening portal.

“In every community, there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart, there is the power to do it.” — Marianne Williamson

When we do this work, we are tending to the collective. When we tend to the collective, we create the conditions in which healing and transformation can happen, but before we can tend to the collective, we have to become profoundly aware of our own strengths and limitations. For that reason, the application process for this in-person training is fairly rigorous. Once you have read through the dates and times for this training, you are welcome to put in a non-binding application using » this link

Breathwork Facilitation with Steph Magenta at Breathe Festival 2023

Our Story so far

Seven Directions® Breathwork has been a hybrid school from the start, and it will stay one. Accessibility is one of our core issues and having online options ensures that students all across the world, with different levels of access to financial, vocational and educational resources, can  train with us from wherever they are in the world without impacting the environment or their own finances and training access in too great a way.

This new in-person training sits alongside those current offers.

One thing we know is that breath is life, and breath is relational

Our nervous systems are reading each other all the time; through tone of voice, through posture, through cultural essence, social location and much more.

On a screen, some of those signals are lost until we meet in person at the end of each cohort. When journeying together in person throughout the 12 months of this new offer, we will see ourselves reflected in each other in all of our aspects. We will meet the inspiring, the challenging, the reticent, the parts that hide, the parts that make assumptions, the parts that project, the parts that hold leadership and so much more. We get to witness the colour change in someone’s face in the wake of emotion, we will hear in real time when the breath catches and shortens when we are challenged, we will feel the moment the group finds cohesion and harmony as much as recognise quickly when there is discord. In other words, we are learning to read the room very directly in present-moment awareness.

As breathwork facilitators, these are the cues we work with for the rest of our lives both in and out of our practice. They are the cues of our relational spaces in all of our lives.

WHY SMALL GROUP SIZE?

Each cohort is limited to 12 students, and we’ve made a clear choice about how the work is held within a group of this size.

“Some wisdom lives in your body before your mind can explain it. Trust what your bones know.”
― Lawrence Nault

With twelve people maximum, every single person who signs up to the training is committing to bring themselves into full and authentic visibility, and we are committing to supporting you within that process. We will get to know one another very well. You will get to know yourself more deeply than you already do and you will come to recognise your own personal Medicine in the delivery of this work.

Everything we already teach in our online hybrid programme will be practised in person. Consent, touch, ethics, co-regulation, pendulation & titration, scope of practice, inclusivity, anatomy & physiology of breath, effective interventions and more. Everything becomes something you have experienced in your own body in present moment real time experience.

A group who have breathed through grief, anger, loss, uncertainty, vulnerability, fear, joy, achievement, and laughter together, carry that into their practice afterwards in ways that only in-person witnessing can offer.

Our graduates consistently name community as one of the most important parts of their training. Welcome to this new version of the community that we will build through the in-person training.

You also receive the full Seven Directions® online curriculum. The same body of work every student in the school studies, on the same teaching platform, in the same form with additional mentoring with Rebecca Baker and our ongoing online support.

Each weekend, we will:

  • Revisit the online teachings from the modules we will study together in our supporting monthly calls and solo learning.

  • Practice applying them directly, as facilitator and as breather with live constructive feedback and dialogue.

  • Meet real responses as they arise (activation, release, tears, stillness, catharsis) and learn how to respond to each with skill and steadiness.

  • Practice framing, sequencing and closing sessions.

  • Practice consent-based touch and hands-on support, with clear agreements and supervision.

  • Leave time to integrate, so the work can become fully embodied as we go.

Something that takes weeks to understand on a screen can become clear in a single afternoon of embodied in person practice and support the deepening can of your personal experience of how you will facilitate.

THE SHAPE OF THE YEAR

A year shaped by the Seven Directions

The training will move around the Sun Wheel of a full year. We begin together in the East, travel through South, West, North, Above and Below across one online opening orientation and five in person weekends, closing in the Centre of the wheel at our final graduation practicum. Each gathering carries one primary direction and the body of teachings that belong to it.

Between gatherings, we will host monthly online seminar calls. These calls will keep the group connected, introduce the in person materials we will cover when we meet, and offer integration space to process all that you are learning. When we come together for our in person meetings, our time is kept for practice, live feedback, and group experiential teachings and the deeper questions that arise from being in-person with breathwork facilitation. All non-residential costs for the first five weekends are included in our overall training fees.

The five weekends run from Saturday morning to Sunday early evening and are non-residential. Online meetings run from 2:00-4:00pm UK time Saturdays (except for our first orientation running 2:00-6:00pm UK time)

*Our graduation practicum is likely to be residential and will incur additional fees.

WHO TEACHES

The in person training will be taught by Seven Directions® Founder Steph Magenta, with Senior Mentor Rebecca Baker, and undoubtedly attended by graduates coming to join us for additional support, breathwork sessions and more shares. We find our students don’t tend to leave!

This training offers A rare opportunity to learn directly with our founder & highly experienced supporting team.

Steph Magenta

Steph Magenta is the founder of Seven Directions® Breathwork, an internationally recognised and respected breathwork training school. She is part of the IBF Governing Board of Professionalism and sits on the Ethics Committee within the same organisation, fully committed to the betterment of this wonderful practice of breathwork.

Steph is a Shift Network Faculty member having hosted two global breathwork summits and her own course on their platform. She has worked extensively with plant medicines, addiction and recovery services, and a multitude of shamanic practices to navigate her way through her own story. The wisdom gleaned through this devotional journey is now translated into a deep and loving commitment to supporting others to do the same so that we can steward in the world we want to see.

Steph is a shamanic practitioner working within North American, Mexican Toltec and British land based traditions and walks the path of the Medicine Woman which she fuses with her breathwork ceremonies and private practice.

Over the years, Steph has invested heavily in her own training which she brings into this live work with clear purpose. She is trained in bodywork, TRE, the Wheel of Consent, the Right Use of Power, and Embodied Authentic Relating, and is currently studying the Somatic Active Healing method with Sah D’Simone, a practice which acknowledges and meets the trauma that so often hold in our bodies. She is a fully certified conscious connected breathwork facilitator and Oxygen Advantage Advanced practitioner. Her work sits where science meets ceremony, respecting the animist nature of all things and honouring and acknowledging with care, the lineages and traditions from which her work is born.

rebecca baker

Rebecca Baker brings together over fifteen years of experience as a professional educator, with a background in theatre and performance, and years of dedicated practice as a Conscious Connected Breathwork Facilitator, Reiki Master Teacher and mentor.

A double-certified Conscious Connected Breathwork Facilitator, Rebecca has been practising and studying breathwork since 2018. She has worked closely with Steph Magenta and Seven Directions® for over five years, mentoring and teaching across multiple international training cohorts. She holds a degree in Theatre Arts from Goldsmiths, University of London, and fifteen years working in formal education, including as a College Lecturer in Theatre and Performing Arts. Rebecca deeply understands that learning is not simply an intellectual process. It is physical, relational and inherently creative. Drawing on her experience in performance, group dynamics and embodied practice, her particular expertise lies in the art of facilitation: creating and holding spaces in which people can explore, experiment and develop the practical skills required to work safely and authentically with others.

Alongside her teaching and mentoring, Rebecca has extensive experience leading retreats, workshops and group breathwork classes, both online and in person.

As a mentor, Rebecca supports emerging practitioners to develop their own authentic facilitation voice; bringing both a depth of professional experience and a genuine delight in witnessing people integrate their knowledge, lived experience, and embodied understanding to bring their unique brilliance into the field. She is often to be found near, or in the sea!

IS THIS FOR YOU?

This training may be right for you if

  • You want to learn breathwork facilitation alongside other people in a communal living space, rather than mainly through a screen

  • You can travel for all of our in-person meetings across the year and attend our Saturday seminars online (monthly 2:00-4:00pm UK time).

  • You are drawn to embodied live practice and have the experience to hold yourself fully present, and accountable within that throughout our time together.

  • You want to learn in a small group setting, and you are willing to be known and seen within it in all aspects of your being.

  • You are willing to adhere to our Ethical Code of Professional Practice and our Relational Code of Ethics.

It may not be right for you if

  • You are looking for the fastest or cheapest route to running live breathwork sessions.

  • You cannot make all of our in-person and online meetings throughout the year (6 x in person meetings including graduation, and 8 x online calls)

  • You have no interest in doing your own inner work during this year-long intensive OR you don’t yet have the experience of personal growth work we require for this offer.

  • Travelling to in-person weekends is not possible for you this year. In that case our hybrid online training holds the same curriculum and may suit you better if travel is your main issue.
